Description

A rich and indulgent dessert made with layers of moist chocolate cake, fluffy whipped cream, and a glossy chocolate ganache.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir in the boiling water until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Once the cakes are baked, let them cool completely.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until soft peaks form.
  8. Layer the cooled cakes with whipped cream between them and cover the top with chocolate ganache.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It stays fresh for about 3-4 days.
