- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup chocolate ganache
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir in the boiling water until the mixture is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool completely. Once cooled, layer them with whipped cream made from heavy cream and powdered sugar.
- Pour chocolate ganache over the top and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Notes
Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Avoid over-mixing the batter to keep the cake light and fluffy.
