Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir in the boiling water until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool completely. Once cooled, layer them with whipped cream made from heavy cream and powdered sugar.
  6. Pour chocolate ganache over the top and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
