Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 2 cups chocolate ganache
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 8-inch round pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add in the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir in the hot coffee until everything is well combined.
  4. Divide your batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  6. Once the cakes are cooled, level the tops if needed.
  7. Spread cream cheese frosting between each layer of the cake.
  8. Pour caramel sauce over each layer and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  9. Cover the entire cake with chocolate ganache and finish with the remaining chopped pecans on top.
  10. Chill the cake for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for richer flavor. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
