- 4 cups pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir well until the cherries are evenly coated. Pour this mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly.
- Evenly sprinkle the crumble mixture over the cherry filling.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until the topping becomes golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbling.
- Allow the crumble to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the crumble mixture or mix in other fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
