Description

A delicious and hearty sandwich combining flavorful steak, fresh toppings, and melted cheese. Perfect for lunch or dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sautéed onions and peppers (optional)
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños (optional)
  • Salsa or chimichurri sauce (optional)
  • Mayonnaise or garlic aioli (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the steak slices with olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the steak for 2-3 minutes per side, until cooked to your liking. Remove from heat and let it rest.
  3. Slice the hoagie rolls and lightly toast them on a grill or skillet until golden brown.
  4. Spread mayonnaise or garlic aioli on the inside of each toasted roll (optional).
  5. Add a layer of cooked steak, then top with shredded cheese. Melt the cheese by placing the sandwich under a broiler for a few seconds or using a hot skillet with a lid.
  6. Layer with sliced tomato, chopped cilantro, and sautéed onions and peppers. Add pickled jalapeños for extra heat.
  7. Drizzle with salsa or chimichurri for a burst of flavor (optional).
  8. Serve hot with a side of fries, chips, or a crisp salad.

Notes

Store leftovers separately from the bread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
