Description
A delightful dessert combining rich chocolate cake, creamy peanut butter, and sweet bananas, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ripe bananas (sliced)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Gradually add the boiling water, mixing until combined (the batter will be thin).
- Divide the batter evenly between the two cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, beat together peanut butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped semi-sweet chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth and glossy. Let it cool slightly to thicken.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of peanut butter filling over the top. Arrange sliced bananas on top of the peanut butter layer, then drizzle with a little lemon juice to prevent browning. Add the second cake layer and press gently.
- Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- Let the ganache set for a few minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy the perfect combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and banana bliss!
Notes
Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Add sliced bananas or chocolate shavings on top for a fancy touch.
