Description
A rich and decadent cake with moist layers and creamy chocolate frosting, perfect for any celebration.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup dark cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- Chocolate frosting (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans or line them with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth. Stir in the boiling water until fully combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a thick layer of chocolate frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides.
- Refrigerate the frosted cake for at least 1 hour to set. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, avoid overmixing the batter and use high-quality cocoa powder.
