- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup dark cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, dark cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well blended.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with your favorite dark chocolate frosting and enjoy!
Notes
Serve at room temperature. Pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
