Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dark chocolate (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In one bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Once creamy, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, alternating between them.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes. Once done, let it cool.
  6. For the filling, whip together the heavy cream, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
  7. Once the cake has cooled, carefully slice it horizontally. Spread the cream filling between the layers and reassemble the cake.
  8. Pour the melted chocolate over the top of the cake, and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze individual slices for up to a month.
