- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons Kirsch (cherry liqueur)
- 200g dark chocolate
- 1 cup cherries (fresh or canned)
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare molds by greasing and flouring them.
- Mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in one bowl.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and milk, mixing well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the batter into prepared molds and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once the cakes cool, beat the cream with sugar and add a splash of Kirsch.
- Cut the cooled cakes into 4 horizontal layers.
- Place a layer of whipped cream and cherries between each level, stacking until all layers are used.
- Cover the entire cake with remaining whipped cream and decorate with chocolate shavings and fresh cherries.
- Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving to enhance flavors.
Notes
For a fluffier batter, ensure eggs are at room temperature. Adjust sweetness per taste. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
