Description

A classic dessert combining rich chocolate and cherry flavors, layered with whipped cream for an unforgettable treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Kirsch (cherry liqueur)
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 1 cup cherries (fresh or canned)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare molds by greasing and flouring them.
  2. Mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in one bowl.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and milk, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into prepared molds and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Once the cakes cool, beat the cream with sugar and add a splash of Kirsch.
  7. Cut the cooled cakes into 4 horizontal layers.
  8. Place a layer of whipped cream and cherries between each level, stacking until all layers are used.
  9. Cover the entire cake with remaining whipped cream and decorate with chocolate shavings and fresh cherries.
  10. Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving to enhance flavors.

Notes

For a fluffier batter, ensure eggs are at room temperature. Adjust sweetness per taste. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
