Description
Delightful homemade peppermint patties wrapped in chocolate, perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 2 cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil or shortening
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and peppermint extract. Mix until a smooth, firm dough forms.
- Roll the peppermint dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and flatten them into discs. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze the peppermint discs for 20-30 minutes, or until firm.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
- Using a fork, dip each peppermint disc into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let excess chocolate drip off before placing the coated patty back on the baking sheet.
- Allow the chocolate-covered patties to set at room temperature, or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
- Enjoy your homemade peppermint patties! Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
If you want a stronger mint flavor, add a few extra drops of peppermint extract. For variations, try using milk or white chocolate, and add crushed candy canes for a festive touch.
