- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Butter for spreading
- Strawberry preserves
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1 inch thick, then cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter and strawberry preserves.
Notes
Make sure your butter is cold for flaky layers. Don’t overmix the dough for better texture.
