Description

Fresh, warm homemade biscuits that are flaky and buttery, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Butter for spreading
  • Strawberry preserves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to about 1 inch thick, then cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with butter and strawberry preserves.

Notes

Make sure your butter is cold for flaky layers. Don’t overmix the dough for better texture.
