Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank or skirt steak
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 6 small corn tortillas
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/3 cup crumbled cotija cheese
  • 1 jalapeño, minced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rub the steak with olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Grill the steak over high heat for 4–5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Let it rest before slicing thinly.
  3. In a bowl, mix the diced avocado, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, and minced jalapeño.
  4. Warm the tortillas in a skillet or on the grill until slightly charred.
  5. Assemble the tacos by adding slices of steak, avocado salsa, and a sprinkle of cotija cheese.
  6. Serve the tacos warm with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

Store leftovers with components separate to maintain freshness. Use lime juice on avocado to prevent browning.
