- 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Pita bread
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced red onion
- Lettuce
- Tzatziki sauce
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and dried oregano. Add the chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
- Let the chicken rest before slicing it.
- To assemble the gyros, place sliced chicken in pita bread and top with sliced tomatoes, onion, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce.
- Serve while warm.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate the chicken for a few hours or overnight. Customize with other toppings like cucumbers or feta cheese.
