Description

A rich dessert combining cheesecake and German chocolate cake, topped with coconut and pecans.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream. Pour this creamy filling over the crust.
  3. Place the cheesecake in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is set. Once done, allow the cheesecake to cool completely in the pan.
  4. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the evaporated milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and butter. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring continuously. Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, until it thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the flaked coconut and chopped pecans.
  5. Once the cheesecake has cooled, pour the German chocolate glaze over the top, spreading it evenly.
  6. Refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours to set completely.

Notes

Serve chilled with whipped cream. Experiment with toppings like caramel or fresh berries.
