Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the onion powder, Cajun seasoning, and smoked paprika.
  3. Add uncooked rice to the skillet, stirring to coat in the buttery garlic mixture. Cook for 1-2 minutes to lightly toast.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and stir well. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat. Cover and let simmer for 15-18 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
  5. Once the rice is tender, add the heavy cream, cooked ground beef, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan. Simmer gently for 3-4 minutes until thick and creamy.
  6. Season to taste with salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes
