- 8 slices thick white bread
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended)
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture on one side of each bread slice. On half the slices, add strawberry jam and diced strawberries.
- Place the remaining slices on top, cream cheese side down, to form sandwiches.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and cinnamon (if using).
- Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Press each sandwich into breadcrumbs, ensuring a full coating.
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry each sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container; reheat in an oven or toaster for best results. You can experiment with different jams or fruits.
