Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick white bread
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture on one side of each bread slice. On half the slices, add strawberry jam and diced strawberries.
  3. Place the remaining slices on top, cream cheese side down, to form sandwiches.
  4. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and cinnamon (if using).
  5. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Press each sandwich into breadcrumbs, ensuring a full coating.
  6. Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Fry each sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container; reheat in an oven or toaster for best results. You can experiment with different jams or fruits.
