Delightful Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings combining sweet apples with warm cinnamon, perfect for dessert or a snack.


Ingredients

  • 4 large apples (such as Gala)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup sugar (for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the buttermilk until well combined.
  3. In a shallow dish, mix together 1/3 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon for the topping. Set aside.
  4. Peel the apples if desired, core them, and slice into 1/4-inch thick rings. Remove the center core of each slice.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Gradually whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
  7. Dip each apple ring into the batter, coating fully. Carefully place them in the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. While warm, dip each ring into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For extra sweetness, sprinkle more cinnamon-sugar on top after frying.
