Description
Delightful Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings combining sweet apples with warm cinnamon, perfect for dessert or a snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large apples (such as Gala)
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/3 cup sugar (for topping)
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the buttermilk until well combined.
- In a shallow dish, mix together 1/3 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon for the topping. Set aside.
- Peel the apples if desired, core them, and slice into 1/4-inch thick rings. Remove the center core of each slice.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Gradually whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
- Dip each apple ring into the batter, coating fully. Carefully place them in the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- While warm, dip each ring into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
