A classic Southern dish featuring crispy fried catfish, crunchy sweet potato fries, and fluffy hushpuppies.
Ingredients

- 4 catfish filets
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- Oil (for frying)
- 1 cup cornmeal (for hushpuppies)
- 1 onion (optional)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
- Dip catfish filets in a mixture of eggs and milk, then coat with the cornmeal mixture.
- Fry the filets for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- For sweet potato fries, cut sweet potatoes into fries, toss with oil, salt, and pepper, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20-25 minutes.
- For hushpuppies, mix cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and chopped onions (if using) with water to form a batter. Drop spoonfuls into the hot oil and fry until golden.
- Serve all items together for a delicious Sunday lunch.
Notes
Store leftovers in separate airtight containers for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven for best results.
