- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup hot water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup Nutella
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- Ferrero Rocher chocolates (for decoration)
- Chocolate pieces (for decoration)
- Extra frosting swirls (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot water, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well blended.
- Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the cakes cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter in a bowl until creamy. Add in the Nutella and mix well.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until the frosting is fluffy.
- Frost the top of one cake layer, then stack the second layer on top and frost it as well. Repeat with the third layer, then cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting smoothly.
- Refrigerate the cake while you prepare the ganache.
- In a small pot, heat the heavy cream. Once hot, pour it over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Stir until smooth to create the ganache.
- Carefully drizzle the ganache over the top edge of the cake, letting it drip down the sides.
- Decorate the top with extra frosting swirls, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, and chocolate pieces.
- Chill the cake before serving.
Notes
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Store leftover cake in an airtight container in the fridge.
