Description

A luxurious chocolate cake with Nutella frosting and a decorative chocolate ganache, perfect for celebrations and indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • Ferrero Rocher chocolates (for decoration)
  • Chocolate pieces (for decoration)
  • Extra frosting swirls (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, hot water, vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter equally into the prepared pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool completely in the pans before transferring them to a wire rack.
  7. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Then, add the Nutella and mix until well combined.
  8. Gradually add the powdered sugar and heavy cream, beating until the frosting is fluffy.
  9. Frost between the cooled cake layers, then cover the entire cake smoothly with the remaining frosting. Refrigerate the cake while preparing the ganache.
  10. To make the ganache, heat the 1/2 cup of heavy cream until it’s just about to boil. Pour it over the chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  11. Let the ganache cool slightly, then drip it over the edges of the cake decoratively.
  12. Finish by decorating the top of the cake with frosting swirls, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, and chocolate pieces. Chill the cake before serving.
