Description

A rich, moist chocolate cake packed with chocolate chips and covered in chocolate frosting, perfect for any celebration.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, frost the cakes with chocolate frosting and layer them for an explosion of chocolate flavor.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Don’t skip the boiling water for a moist cake.
