Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cassis liqueur
  • Chocolate frosting for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and cassis until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Frost the cake with chocolate frosting and garnish with fresh berries before serving.
