Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake layered with delicious chocolate ganache, perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat the mixture for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water. Your batter will be thin, but that’s what makes it moist!
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Once the cakes are cool, spread chocolate ganache between the layers and cover the top and sides. Smooth it out for that luxurious look.
  8. Finish by topping with elegant chocolate shavings and serve with a smile!

Notes

Store leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
