- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chocolate ganache
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat the mixture for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. Your batter will be thin, but that’s what makes it moist!
- Divide the batter evenly between the pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread chocolate ganache between the layers and cover the top and sides. Smooth it out for that luxurious look.
- Finish by topping with elegant chocolate shavings and serve with a smile!
Notes
Store leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
