Description

A classic dessert featuring a creamy filling and flaky crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground nutmeg for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan, crimping the edges if desired.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  4. Slowly add the milk while whisking continuously, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Strain the custard mixture through a fine sieve to ensure a silky texture.
  6. Pour the custard into the prepared pie crust and lightly sprinkle the top with ground nutmeg.
  7. Carefully place the pie on the center rack of your preheated oven.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and slightly jiggly in the center when shaken.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the pie cool to room temperature.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for the best texture.

Notes

Serve chilled, optionally topped with whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
