Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Approximately 2024 plain biscuits (like Marie biscuits or digestive biscuits)
  • 1/2 cup milk or strong coffee, for dipping
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Optional: Crushed nuts or sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar and cornstarch.
  2. Gradually add milk while whisking until smooth.
  3. Add egg yolks and whisk until combined.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and just boiling.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract and butter until smooth.
  6. Allow pudding to cool slightly, stirring occasionally.
  7. Dip each biscuit quickly in milk or coffee and arrange in an 8×8 inch dish.
  8. Spread pudding over the biscuits and repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
  9. For the chocolate topping, heat the heavy cream until simmering and pour over chocolate chips; whisk until smooth.
  10. Pour chocolate ganache over the top layer of pudding.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  12. Slice and serve cold with optional nuts or sprinkles on top.
