Description

A delightful dessert combining cake and donuts, topped with colorful sprinkles and rich chocolate ganache, perfect for celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Pink food coloring
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups chocolate frosting
  • Assorted donuts
  • Rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Add a few drops of pink food coloring as desired.
  5. Distribute the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
  6. To make the chocolate ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it simmers. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes, then whisk until smooth.
  7. Place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Frost the top with some of the chocolate frosting. Add the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  8. Pour the warm ganache over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides.
  9. Press a generous amount of rainbow sprinkles around the base of the cake and sprinkle more on top.
  10. Arrange the assorted donuts on top and the sides of the cake, using frosting to secure them if needed.

Notes

Ensure cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
