Description

A fun and eye-catching dessert with layers of fluffy pink cake, rich chocolate frosting, and delicious donuts on top, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Pink food coloring
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups chocolate frosting
  • Assorted donuts
  • Rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to the batter to achieve a light pink color.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool completely.
  9. To make the chocolate ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it begins to simmer. Pour it over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes, then whisk until smooth.
  10. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and frost the top with some chocolate frosting.
  11. Add the second cake layer, then frost the entire cake with the remaining chocolate frosting.
  12. Pour the warm ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  13. Press rainbow sprinkles around the base of the cake and sprinkle more on top.
  14. Arrange the assorted donuts on top and along the sides, securing them with extra frosting if needed.

Notes

Ensure cake layers are completely cooled before frosting to avoid melting the frosting. Customize the cake with various types of donuts.
