- 1 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and softened butter until creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and buttermilk.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with hot water, until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
