A rich chocolate cake topped with smooth ganache and fresh strawberries, perfect for any celebration.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- Fresh strawberries for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay!
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small pot until it begins to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chopped dark chocolate and stir until smooth.
- Let the ganache cool slightly before spreading it over the cooled cake layers.
- Top the cake with fresh strawberries for a beautiful finish.
Notes
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
