Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Then, add the eggs one by one, mixing well.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, alternating them until combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Let the cakes cool after baking.
  6. Whip the heavy cream with the vanilla extract, then spread the whipped cream between the layers of cake.
  7. Pour the chocolate ganache over the top and the sides of the cake.
  8. Decorate with the chopped dark chocolate and refrigerate for 1 hour to set.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Let the cake cool completely before adding frosting.
