  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 12 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Fresh strawberries and mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat everything together until well combined.
  4. Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it simmers. Pour it over the chopped dark chocolate. Stir until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth, forming a ganache.
  7. Spread whipped cream between the two layers of cake. Pour the ganache over the top and let it drip down the sides.
  8. Garnish with fresh strawberries and mint leaves. Serve and enjoy!
