Description

The ultimate dessert for chocolate lovers, combining rich chocolate flavors with a smooth ganache topping.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 12 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Fresh strawberries and mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat until everything is well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pans.
  5. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
  6. While the cakes are cooling, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it starts to simmer. Remove it from heat and pour it over the chopped dark chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted and smooth, creating your ganache.
  7. Once the cakes are cool, spread whipped cream between the layers. Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  8. Garnish your cake with fresh strawberries and mint leaves. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store the remaining cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
