Description

Crispy Beef Stir-Fry is a delightful dish that combines tender beef with colorful vegetables and a delicious sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the flank steak dry with a paper towel. Season it with salt and pepper, then coat the steak with cornstarch.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet. Fry the beef in small batches until it turns crispy and golden brown. Set the cooked beef aside.
  3. Drain any excess oil from the wok. Add a bit of fresh oil and sauté the sliced onion and bell pepper until they are slightly charred.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Pour the sauce into the wok and simmer until it thickens.
  5. Return the crispy beef to the wok and toss it to coat it well in the sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

For added color and nutrition, feel free to add other vegetables like broccoli, carrots, or snap peas.
