- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (for coating beef)
- 2 tbsp oil (for frying)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger (optional)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Toss beef slices with cornstarch.
- Heat oil in a wok or skillet and cook beef until crispy and browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add garlic, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until soft and slightly charred.
- Whisk together sauce ingredients. Pour into the pan and simmer for 1–2 minutes.
- Return beef to the pan and toss in the sauce until coated and sticky.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles, garnish with green onions if desired.
Notes
Make sure to slice the beef thinly against the grain for the best texture. Adjust sauce ingredients to taste.
