- 1 pound bowtie pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 10 ounces frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Cook the bowtie pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the thawed spinach. Cook until heated through.
- In a separate large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk and chicken broth until there are no lumps.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, Cajun seasoning, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is creamy.
- Add the cooked pasta, the beef and sausage mixture, and spinach to the cheese sauce. Stir to combine and coat everything evenly.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave in short intervals, stirring often.
