Description

A delightful twist on the classic banana bread, combining the moistness of ripe bananas with creamy richness of cream cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Mix in the mashed bananas and sour cream until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  6. Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, spread the cream cheese filling over the top, then pour the remaining banana batter over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, add nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruits. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
