Description

Country Cabbage Rolls are a comforting and hearty dish made with tender cabbage leaves filled with a delicious mixture of ground beef and rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 large savoy cabbage
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 medium to large onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil, olive oil, or butter
  • 1 cup white or brown rice

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully blanch the cabbage leaves until soft, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the leaves and let them cool.
  2. In a skillet, heat the oil and sauté the onions until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onions, and seasonings to taste.
  4. Place a portion of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Arrange the rolls in a baking dish, seam-side down. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
  7. Serve hot.
