- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
- In a mixing bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract and beat together on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Slowly stir in the boiling water.
- Pour the batter evenly into prepared pans.
- Bake in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature. Sifting helps make the cake lighter. Adding boiling water ensures a moist cake.
