  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
  2. Place the cubed French bread in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, stirring gently to coat all pieces. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to absorb.
  5. Divide the soaked bread evenly among the muffin cups, pressing down lightly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden and the custard is set.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Brush or drizzle over each muffin while still warm.
  8. Allow the muffins to cool slightly before removing them from the tin.

Notes

Use stale bread for best texture. These muffins can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days or frozen for up to three months.
