Description
A delicious treat that combines the crunchiness of Saltine crackers with toffee and chocolate, inspired by churros.
Ingredients
Scale
- 40 Saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring constantly.
- Once the mixture is boiling, let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the Saltine crackers, spreading it out with a spatula to cover them completely.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling and the crackers are golden.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
- Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee with a spatula.
- In a small bowl, mix the remaining cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle this mixture over the melted chocolate.
- Allow the toffee to cool completely on the counter or refrigerate it for faster cooling.
- Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!
Notes
