- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Spread two-thirds of the batter in the prepared baking dish. Spoon cherry pie filling over the batter. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set. Let cool completely in the pan.
- Whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle glaze over cooled bars.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Can be served warm or at room temperature. Great with ice cream or whipped cream.
