Description

A delicious dessert that combines rich chocolate flavor with the moist, creamy texture of traditional tres leches cake, soaked in three types of milk for maximum flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool before poking holes all over the top.
  7. Prepare the tres leches mixture by combining sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. Pour over the cake.
  8. Let it soak overnight in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

For a richer chocolate flavor, replace a portion of the all-purpose flour with cocoa powder. Make sure ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
