Description
A delicious dessert that combines rich chocolate flavor with the moist, creamy texture of traditional tres leches cake, soaked in three types of milk for maximum flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup whole milk, at room temperature
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before poking holes all over the top.
- Prepare the tres leches mixture by combining sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. Pour over the cake.
- Let it soak overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
Notes
For a richer chocolate flavor, replace a portion of the all-purpose flour with cocoa powder. Make sure ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
