  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the hot coffee until fully incorporated. The batter will be thin.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely.
  6. For the strawberry filling, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  7. Add the strawberry puree and vanilla extract. Mix until thick and fluffy.
  8. Heat the heavy cream until warm for the ganache, then pour it over the chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  9. Assemble the cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread the strawberry filling evenly over the cake, then add sliced strawberries on top.
  10. Place the second cake layer over the filling and pour the ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
  11. Garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
