- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 2 cups chocolate ganache
- 1 cup white chocolate for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until combined.
- Gradually stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
- Prepare the chocolate ganache and spread it between the layers of the cooled cakes and over the top.
- Dip the fresh strawberries in melted white chocolate, then dark chocolate. Let them set until the chocolate hardens.
- Decorate the top of the cake with the chocolate-dipped strawberries.
Notes
Serve at room temperature; for an extra treat, enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to two days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week.
