- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 pound fresh strawberries
- 2 cups chocolate ganache
- 1 cup white chocolate for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat together until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, which is normal.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
- Prepare the chocolate ganache and spread it between the layers of the cooled cake and over the top.
- Dip the fresh strawberries into melted white chocolate, then into dark chocolate if desired. Let the strawberries set.
- Decorate the cake with the chocolate-dipped strawberries on top.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, use fresh, ripe strawberries. Can experiment with different types of chocolate for dipping.
