- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder

- 2 eggs
- 1 cup soured milk
- 1 cup black coffee
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 oz orange liqueur (optional)
- 1 1⁄2 lbs cream cheese (3 blocks)
- 1 cup sugar

- Minced zest of 1 large orange
- 4 cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup softened butter
- 3–4 tbsp milk
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix all cake ingredients (except the orange liqueur) and beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 10-inch cake pans.
- Bake at 325°F (165°C) for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool on wire racks and soak with orange liqueur (optional).
- For the cheesecake, cream together cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract, orange zest, and whipping cream, then pour into a parchment-lined 10-inch springform pan.
- Bake at 325°F (165°C) for 50-60 minutes, until the surface is no longer glossy. Let cool completely.
- Place one chocolate cake layer on top of the cooled cheesecake in the springform pan, then invert onto a serving plate. Frost with chocolate buttercream and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
- Make chocolate buttercream frosting by mixing icing sugar and cocoa, adding in softened butter until smooth, then milk to achieve spreadable consistency.
- Prepare chocolate ganache by melting chocolate chips and whipping cream together, then pour over the cooled cake.
- Decorate with sliced oranges before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Ensure ingredients are at room temperature before starting. Can be made ahead of time and frozen.
