A delightful dessert that blends rich chocolate cake with a creamy orange cheesecake filling, perfect for celebrations and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup soured milk
  • 1 cup black coffee
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 oz orange liqueur (optional)
  • 1 1⁄2 lbs cream cheese (3 blocks)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • Minced zest of 1 large orange
  • 4 cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 34 tbsp milk
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix all cake ingredients (except the orange liqueur) and beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 10-inch cake pans.
  2. Bake at 325°F (165°C) for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool on wire racks and soak with orange liqueur (optional).
  3. For the cheesecake, cream together cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract, orange zest, and whipping cream, then pour into a parchment-lined 10-inch springform pan.
  4. Bake at 325°F (165°C) for 50-60 minutes, until the surface is no longer glossy. Let cool completely.
  5. Place one chocolate cake layer on top of the cooled cheesecake in the springform pan, then invert onto a serving plate. Frost with chocolate buttercream and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  6. Make chocolate buttercream frosting by mixing icing sugar and cocoa, adding in softened butter until smooth, then milk to achieve spreadable consistency.
  7. Prepare chocolate ganache by melting chocolate chips and whipping cream together, then pour over the cooled cake.
  8. Decorate with sliced oranges before serving.

Notes
