- 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup sour cream
- 3 cups cake flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, blend the melted butter and sugar together.
- Add the egg yolks and mix until the mixture is smooth.
- Incorporate the sour cream and vanilla extract into the mixture.
- In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: cake flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually combine the wet and dry mixtures until a stiff dough forms.
- Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.
- Roll out the chilled dough and cut out donuts using a donut cutter.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°-375°.
- Fry the donuts for 1 minute and 30 seconds on each side until golden brown.
- Cool the donuts on a wire rack.
- For the glaze, heat the milk and whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip the cooled donuts in the glaze, let them cool again, and enjoy!
