Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate mousse
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (for topping)
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let it cool.
- Once cooled, cut the cake in half horizontally and spread chocolate mousse in between the layers.
- Coat the outside of the cake with the remaining mousse and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Before serving, whip the heavy cream and spread it over the top of the cake. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing and use quality chocolate for the mousse for enhanced flavor.
