Description

Ingredients

  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking soda
  • Chocolate jimmie sprinkles
  • 3/4 cup Cocoa powder, natural unsweetened
  • 10 1/4 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/4 cups Shortening
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup Coffee
  • 3 tbsp Espresso, instant powder
  • 1 1/2 cups Butter, salted
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 15/16 cup Kahlua

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together shortening, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk and coffee. Mix until combined.
  6. Stir in Kahlua and instant espresso powder.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into prepared cake pans and sprinkle chocolate jimmies on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, frost with your choice of frosting and enjoy!
